Step 1: DONE!

Kitchen contemporary kitchen

I'm a big fan of round tables in kitchen nooks, they bring a nice balance to all the rectangular and straight lines in the typical kitchen. And as a bonus you can always manage to fit yet another chair up to the table when an extra person or two show up for dinner.

What I wasn't loving about the one in my kitchen was how the finish was standing up to the wear and tear, so I'm painting it.

After coming home from a trip to Sherwin-Williams, getting all the supplies...

I got to work sanding. Oh. Sanding. It'll stop many a project before they begin!

But luckily, by using the Adhesion Primer I only have to lightly sand the surfaces of the table, to remove the top coat of finish.

With a sander for the flat surfaces and just a bit of elbow grease for the others, the job didn't take too long. But it's a good thing I decided not to try to remove all the finish and use Briwax for a natural finish...because much of this table is not made of wood! Who knew.

And who knows exactly what it is made of. Some poly, mdf or something. Hum...

Any guesses?

Regardless, next step: priming!
