. . . and today was one of those that was filled with all kinds of running round -- cocktail and holiday dresses at the dry cleaners, a stop at the hair salon, and even braving the shops filled with hapless, last-minute men . . . and there are still gifts to wrap and suitcases to pack, but for now, just a few quiet moments before it all begins . . .

. . . a more luxuriously low-key weekend would not have been possible, for this time, [and the first in quite some time], there were no set plans, travel or otherwise -- only half-thoughts, whims & fancies, all fallen by the wayside, in favour of easy mornings and elegant dinners, the blustery romance of autumn at every turn and candlelight against dark windowpanes on early evenings, and later, ambling walks, leather boots and leaves, long cashmere scarves and very warm thoughts . . .

hope you've had a magical late-october weekend, and that it's beautiful where you are, roséline xo

{happy monday + a brand new week}

monday-monday-hed

. . . hello! hope you had a wonderful weekend & it's lovely to see you again . . . dashing out the door {late!} for appointments and the flower markets, but first, a quick hello . . . and for the first time in a while, the happy chaos of the past exciting & busy weeks is subsiding {just a little}, and everything feels as if it were slowly becoming a little more organised and falling beautifully into place, and just in time, as the last part of summer always seems to be the busiest; the nights already feel a little cooler, and the mornings have a certain freshness, and there is a {nearly imperceptible} and altogether irresistible something new and adventurous in the air . . .

happy monday! hope your week is off to a perfect start,

roséline xo

. . . adore the idea of wearing a vintage wedding dress for traipsing about on a summer's day -- this one is from the 30's -- add a vintage coach bag and a pair of manolo's and you're set . . .

Sell your 3d assets on 3dOcean

Envato is setting up 3dOcean, an online marketplace where you can sell all your 3D assets: Get an invite here

This is the kind of content they are looking for,  (from cg.tutsplus.com):

3D Models - We are looking for anything from animals over anatomy, buildings and architecture, deco and design elements, electronics, engines and parts, fantasy and fiction, furnishings, humans, plants, sports, toys, vehicles of all types, shapes and sizes, ... all the way to weapons and armor and even theme packages.

Materials and Shaders - 3D models need good materials and shaders to unfold their full potential. If you have worked hard to create quality materials and shaders then this is the place where you can make them work for you.

CG Textures - Every CG artist is always on the lookout for good texture resources and this section will be dedicated to textures that are optimized for the use in 3D applications.

3D Print - If you have created a digital piece of art that you would like to sell to the world, be it a figurine, a modeling kit, to scale furniture, detailed vehicle models or anything that can be 3d printed, then this is the section that makes it possible.

2D Concepts - This is a section for character front-side-back views, technical drawings and blueprints or anything that can be used to construct 3d models.

Should be interesting to see how it competes with turbosquid...

Links to free 3D furniture models as supplied by manufacturers

There is a list of links for free 3D furniture models, as supplied by the official manufactures on designconnected: (http://www.designconnected.com/en/catalog/manufacturers_3d_pages/official+Manufacturers+Free+3D+Models)

I've only had time to check out one of the links on that site, and that is for http://www.moroso.it/
They have incredible real- life products, and they also have free 3d models of most of their products. The files are available in .3ds file format (3D), .dxf format (2D) and archiCAD format (3D). I downloaded the .3ds file for a product called "Around the Roses" (It's a collection of tables, although only one version of the table is supplied).
The geometry seems fine as you can see in this screen shot below:

However there are no textures included, so you will have to do some research and sort those out yourself. Here is my V-Ray render of the finished product: (I did modify the mesh a little)

All in all, a handy list of links to have

More free 3d cars

I found some more free 3d car models here (3ds max file format)
They seem to be pretty good quality
Here is a Mercedes S55 that I rendered out.
3d render of mercedes s55 vray
I had to change quite a few of the materials to V-Ray materials, because the file comes with some standard 3ds max materials, but other than that the models are pretty good.
There is also a Nissan 350Z, Audi Q7, Honda S2000 and a bunch of other stuff

High quality 3d model site

There is a new resource for 3D furniture models on the web, it's called design connected. They are partners with chaosgroup (the makers of the V-Ray renderer), so you know these models are going to work well with V-Ray. The models are fully textured and are available in the following formats: sketchup, Autodesk 3ds max, obj, fbz and Abvent Artlantis. There is also a native file format, that works with their free download manager software, which enables you to drag and drop render-ready objects straight into your max scene - pretty sweet! To get the products though, you first have to load up your account with credits, it's a kind of pay-as-you-go system. the models seem to be of an extremely high quality (Currently offering 1603 models from 301 manufacturers and 557 designers), and they are organised according products/manufacturerer/designers/themes. They even have links to the official manufacturers of the real-life products. All in all the service looks very professional, very useful for those of us in the Arch-viz industry and I can't wait to try it out - unfortunately there seems to be no free test products at this stage :p

A design classic from the 50's, the beautiful Swan chair by Arne Jacobsen

Another beauty from the 50's, the Eames RAR rocking chair -something I've always wanted (the real version, and it will set you back something like £200-£300.00, luckily the 3D computer model is much cheaper!)

They also have new, contemporary stuff, I just like the old classics :)

Free 3D Spaceship models

You can get Free 3D spaceships from NASA here: click
There are all kinds of things available - 3D model of the Space Shuttle, Apollo Lunar Lander, the International Space Station, Skylab and many more. (All man made stuff, mostly US, no Area 51 or alien ufo's though :p) They are in .3ds format and come with lowish-res textures. I had to tweak the textures and model bit, but they seem to work fine, as you can see in the quick rendering I did above. Not bad for a free model.

There are also some planet and space textures available, like this texture map of Mars

and this map of a control panel from the Space Shuttle flight deck

A handy resource if you need to make some spacey stuff!
