Olympus love, part 2

I mentioned in an earlier post how much I liked Olympus cameras, and how I was in particular looking forward to the launch of the new Micro Four Thirds, mini-SLR model. Well it's finally here, And the Olympus EP-1 is everything I hoped for and more. As an Industrial Designer/3D visualiser with a fondness for the good old days of the 60's and 70's, when cameras where made of metal, motorbikes were air-cooled and skirts were short, this camera is exactly what I hoped it would be. As far as specifications go, it's got a 12.3 Megapixel Live MOS Sensor, a 3.0" LCD screen, it can record HD movies, and it's got a whole lot of other features that I couldn't care less about. What I do care about, is the fact that you can adjust the aperture and shutter-speed, like a "real" old school camera, and I also like the range of high quality Olympus lenses that can be fitted to this camera. I especially like the juicy 17mm F2.8 pancake lens option.
Finally, I love the colour choices that this camera comes in - you can get it white or silver - the white model making a lovely contrast to the many other "oh-so-serious" black SLR's that are on the market.
