Is there any other color that has quite the same ability to have an impact on the look of a room than orange? Orange can be warm, dramatic, traditional or modern, from a rich detail to a bold accent which defines the space. With the arrival of Fall, the harvest season and Halloween just a few weeks away, what a perfect time to look at the color orange in design.
While I found many fabulous examples of orange in design on Houzz, this staircase is the star. The orange runner sweeping up the treads is one of the most dramatic uses of orange I have seen, and the effect is enhanced by the stripe running along the line of the staircase.
Traditional and gorgeous, there is nothing like a chinoiserie wallpaper to add style to a room, especially when in orange and paired with sophisticated black accents.

The raised eyebrow says it all. Adding orange to a design has the ability to surprise and delight.

There is something incredibly charming about this space, the walls are covered with what? And the buffet in bright orange really does make the room sing.
Finally, look closely at this room and observe the incredible abundance of pattern included in its design. Suzanni, plaid, zebra, leopard, floral and a bold geometric rug. How does it all work together? I think it does in large part due to the overriding presence of the four orange wingback chairs. What a wonderful example of how to mix pattern within a single room with success!
