Do you recall the post last week, where I had applied a little Johnson's wax with a plan to wait and see what the result would be?
Well, when I came back a couple hours later look what I was surprised by...table dandruff!
Hum, that's not good. Now what?
With a little more research and a trip to the paint store, I then tested both furniture oil and tung oil as alternatives.
No. While I liked the look of the furniture oil better than the tung oil, both turned the wood too dark, loosing that nicely worn finish I think is key for this particular table.
I mentioned the issue on facebook and a reader asked if I was rubbing the table with steel wool after applying the wax. Good point and...no.
So where does this project stand at the moment?
Waiting. An acquaintance who knows furniture wax well is coming over Friday and we'll test Briwax. I'm certain the right solution will be found; sometimes it just takes time and patience to find exactly what that will be!
